Welcome Student Midwives!

We are committed to training students so that future generations are able to access traditional midwifery care in an out of hospital setting. We find value in the traditional apprenticeship model and view it as beneficial for both students, midwives, and families.

Magpi Midwifery has been offering preceptorship to midwifery students since 2022.

We specialize in working with students in the primary phase of their midwifery training. We offer a safe space for advanced student midwives to cultivate their midwifery style and continue to hone in on their skills before practicing on their own. We are currently preceptors for Midwives College of Utah and National Midwifery Institute, we work with PEP students on a case-by case basis.

Occasionally we are able to offer student housing, as well as a student stipend. We do not currently have availability for a student in the assist phase. We may have availability for short term placements for a primary student, inquire with more information about your current situation, goals, etc. if interested.

requirements for preceptorship-

• 2+ years as an active doula (min of 30 births attended)

• CPR and BLS certification

• Live within 40 minutes of 19063

• Have a reliable vehicle

• Have reliable childcare if you are a parent

• Able to communicate clearly & work well with a team
